Pirates

Although Mandarin, the Beijing accent is distinct in that they tend to add 儿 (“er”) to the end of words.  Which, to Western ears, makes them all sound like pirates.

Duck

The train between Shanghai and Beijing is about five hours.  Our Peking duck dinner at Da Dong — from check in to bill (pun, of course, intended) — was about four hours. Worst. service. EVER.
