In the rolling, pastoral farmland of central Pennsylvania’s Path Valley…
…lies a stream called (somewhat ironically) Dry Run…
…from which the nearby village gets its name.
This is the small village where Mary and Elizabeth Young lived with their parents. Their parents, David Elder and Margery Stewart, were Ulster Scots who came from County Donegal in Northern Ireland.
David Elder held various positions in nearby Fannett Township.
David Elder and Margery Stewart are said to be buried here in the Path Valley Cemetery.
Their graves are lost among the weathered and unreadable headstones from the early 1800s.
