A Chinese friend of mine likes the Scottish band Mogwai. The band named themselves after the creatures in the American film Gremlins. The creatures in the movie, in turn, were based on 魔鬼 (móguǐ) meaning “monster” or “evil spirit” or “demon”) from Chinese mythology.

I worked Thanksgiving (as I will on Christmas) but I did duck out of work early on Thursday and then again Friday to tour Debbie around Shanghai some.
