As a kid who grew up loving the 1960’s The Time Machine and Hitchcock’s The Birds, I have always had great affection for Australian actor Rod Taylor.
At the Burbank international film festival, my film geek friend Gavin & I had a chance to see the documentary Rod Taylor: Pulling No Punches. Learned about a 60s television adventure series he stared in — which neither of us had ever heard of — called “Hong Kong”. In the documentary, Taylor mentioned that he always pushed for the fist fight sequences in the show to be as wholehearted as possible, but to make sure that he always lost in the end. This reminded me of how Indiana Jones is a character who always tries his hardest but always ends up losing every time.
