   That last line:
   ‘History is speculative fiction, and we constantly revise it.’
   Awesome.

   Even his grand entrance to SF of “The sky above the port was the color of television tuned to a dead channel.” is subject to this notion, and even reddit has poured over the revisions made to the idea of dead channels.

     So true! The fact that the (arguably) most influential SF novel of the last four decades starts with a skeuomorphic image is emblematic of the futurists’ dilemma!
