Shame

Driving south through California, east of of the Sierra Nevadas, I visited Manzanar.  This was one of the camps where over a hundred thousand Japanese Americans were relocated during World War II.  Only stone outlines remain where the buildings once stood.

The glorious mountain vistas are in horrific juxtaposition to the memory of one of the most shameful periods in American history.
